SINGLES. 12 INCH.
Next page.

T he amount of 12” vinyl versions issued was slightly higher, although taking into consideration the fact that the release was split into two halves (Being boring and Being remixed) it still wasn’t much compared with other Pet Shop Boys singles.

A s usual with maxi-singles ten years ago, the 12” single included extended mixes of Being boring and We all feel better in the dark, both done by Pet Shop Boys themselves.

The picture on the cover is the same as on 7” German vinyl, but different from its UK counterpart. The vinyl is black with white label, which design corresponds with the look of the sleeves.

This and other 12” singles were the only source of the extended mix of We all feel better in the dark until 1998, where it was included in digital form as one track on compilation album Essential.

T he German release is very much like the UK one. The tracks are the same and the design is similar—but, as expected, flawed in some aspects. There are additional copyrights on the back sleeve written with wrong typeface, the spine reads “Being Boing,” the label on first side: “Bein Boring,” and both the labels are completely different from the UK release. The vinyl is coated with (white) inner paper sleeve.

T his is what is known as “remix vinyl” (as opposed to the “extended vinyl” presented above). And it does indeed look remixed in several ways.

First of all, the title has been changed to Being remixed. This is a very rare maneuver, in the history of Pet Shop Boys records done only on several occassions. DJ Culture was renamed DJ Culturemix because of chart rules, Behaviour dropped the “u” letter on American editions, the French 7” promo read How can we expect to be taken seriously? (which was probably an error) and 12” promos of the third Nightlife single were called simply Drunk.

What’s more, the design of the sleeve is completely different from the other singles, as if it was intented to look good in clubs as well. Unfortunately, the labels on the record are nothing like the sleeve.

The vinyl itself contains the remix of Being boring done by Marshall Jefferson and—on the flipside—two remixes of We all fell better in the dark (another rarity, as the B-sides are hardly ever remixed) from Brothers in Rhythm, who continued their work with Pet Shop Boys, later remixing How can you expect to be taken seriously?, DJ Culture and Go West.

S imilarly to the other 12” vinyl, German release of Being remixed is only slightly different from the UK version.

The sleeve is of almost unnoticeably different shade of color. The “MAXI SINGLE” information is added, as well as some additional catalogue numbers. The vinyl—again with different labels—is coated in protective inner paper/plastic sleeve.
